Running Santa’s Story.
Running Santa started his fund raising in 2020.
Within the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, many families within the Colne Valley area found themselves struggling financially and with this the demand on Colne Valley‘s only food bank was at its highest.
With this, Running Santa started his 25 Days of Christmas Campaign, seeing him running 10km’s from Cowlersley to the Food Bank situated in Slaithwaite & back. He did this for 25 days, ending the campaign on Christmas Eve where he pushed a shopping trolley along the route, collecting food donations from local residents.
First ever campaign in 2020 he raised £3,500.00p
Second campaign in 2021 he raised £2,160.00p
Third campaign in 2022 he raised £3,100.00p
Fourth campaign in 2023 he raised £3,831.89
Over the last four years Running Santa has raised £12,591.89p for our local Food Banks.
This year he is setting a Huge Target of £8,000,00p which will push the total five year target to £20,000.00p
With the increased pressure from the cost of living crisis, this year he is raising money for Two Local Food Banks, Colne Valley Help & Storth House CIC
Both these Food Banks do an amazing job supporting the community, but they really do need help.
As Running Santa is again supporting Two Local Food Banks, he will be continuing his changed running route for last year, he will still run 10km but he will now run from Cowlersley Lights, up Cowlersley Lane, passing Storth House CIC, up to Colne Valley High School, down Causeway Side, on to Manchester Road towards Slaithwaite, running through the centre past Colne Valley Help and then making his way back to Cowlersley on Manchester Road.
Like previous years, he will run the 10km route in his Santa Suite, with Flashing Lights & Playing Christmas Music. He is here again to bring Christmas spirit but also help support the community.
If you can support him, that would be a huge help!
Thank You.
