We are working towards recruiting new team members, particularly people with our mar...
To help us deliver community led projects by covering some of our core costs and enable us to involve more people with our climate projects.
Who are we, and what is our project about?
We are Southampton Collective CIC, a social enterprise working for a healthier, more sustainable city, powered by its communities. We have been working on social impact and community resilience to climate change since 2016. All our profits are put back into supporting projects which benefit communities in Southampton.
We are led by women who believe that community cohesion, connection and collaboration are the keys to a regenerative future. We work with communities where they are at and have co-produced a mix of social impact and climate action projects in our city.
We are founder members of Southampton Climate Action Network (SoCAN), led the Breathing Spaces project which inspired a Southampton community to become an Active Travel Zone, co-hosted TedX events focused on sustainability and resilience, initiated Southampton’s first River Festival, developed Beat the Heat a project about community responses to heatwaves, and are progressing collaborations around Building with Nature and Community Ownership. Everything we do is done with, not to, the residents and communities in the Southampton area. This crowdfunding will help us achieve more of this work.

Why are we crowdfunding?
We hope that local residents and businesses would like to continue to support our work, through contributing to this round of crowdfunding. People who are aligned with our approach can also become a Member of the Collective and having a say in future projects.

How we’ll spend the money raised
The goal of this crowdfunder is to 1) help cover our core costs over the next year, and 2) pay people to work on marketing/project admin.
1) Our core costs include annual accountancy fees (£480) and book keeping (£250), insurance (£275) and fees for web services (£130). None of that sounds very exciting but they are all things that we need to pay for in order to keep delivering community-led projects in Southampton. If we know that our core costs are covered we can focus on delivery and funding of community projects.
2) We are working towards recruiting new team members, particularly people with our marketing, communications and project administration skills. This will help improve our online presence and reach, particularly with the Southampton Climate Action Network (SoCAN) project. We know, through hosting the SoCAN calendar, that there are a huge number of climate related activities in the city and we want to ensure that as many people as possible know about all the opportunities for climate action that exist in our city. We would also like to expand our team with administration support, to help with tasks such as booking rooms, organising events, collating data and tracking finances. This will all help to build on the momentum of our past projects and help projects, such as Beat the Heat and Building with Nature, to thrive.
We want to bring more people on the journey towards a healthier, more sustainable city, and this takes time and resources. We know our approach works and we would love for you to join us on this journey

How you can help
There are three simple ways to get involved and support our project:
1. Make a donation
