Colinton Lego Building Challenge

Aim

Help us make the final push to complete Spylaw Shed and open the doors to a welcoming community space for everyone to enjoy.

Spylaw Shed is being transformed into a welcoming, flexible community space in the heart of Colinton, somewhere that can bring people together, encourage new activities and provide a place for the whole community to enjoy.

What started as an idea has become a reality thanks to an enormous amount of hard work, determination and support from local people. The building work is now nearing completion, and we can finally see the vision coming to life.

But we’re not quite there yet.

This Crowdfunder is about making that final push and raising the money needed to complete the remaining work and turn Spylaw Shed from a construction project into a space that is ready to welcome people through its doors.

The funds raised will help with those important final stages, including the finishing touches, fittings and practical elements needed to make the building safe, welcoming, functional and ready for community use.

We want the whole community to be part of this final stage. That’s why we’re launching our Build a Brilliant Building LEGO® Competition, inviting local primary school children to imagine and build their own brilliant building for their community.

There are some fantastic LEGO® vouchers to be won in two age categories:

Primary 1 to Primary 3

First prize is a £100 LEGO® voucher, second prize is a £50 LEGO® voucher and third prize is a £25 LEGO® voucher.

Primary 4 to Primary 7

First prize is a £100 LEGO® voucher, second prize is a £50 LEGO® voucher and third prize is a £25 LEGO® voucher.

There will also be a special Green Award, with a £50 LEGO® voucher for the building that best shows how it could help people, protect the environment and care for our planet.

Children can ask parents, grandparents, carers, family and friends to sponsor a brick in their model, with their little bricks helping us complete a very real building.

Every donation brings us another step closer.

We’ve imagined it. We’ve planned it. We’ve built it. Now we need your help to finish it.

Together, we can get Spylaw Shed over the finish line and create a community space that can be used, shared and enjoyed for many years to come.
