The global COVID-19 pandemic has created a very uncertain landscape for millions of British small businesses, we are here to help.
Colin’s Nest Cafe is a community sensory cafe located in Poole, Dorset, England.
We are here to offer customers with autism, anxiety and other sensory needs a safe and soothing experience.
We hve sensory tables throughout the cafe where you can relax and have good quality, ethical sourced food and drink.
We keep background noise to a minimum and have sensory equipment to help with the soothing soothing experience.
We have specialist tables consisting of, WWE, specialist sensory lights, space, Lego and a blank canvas for drawing on.
We involve the community through various projects. Prior to lockdown we were actively undertaking the following:
-Men’s mental health and wellbeing breakfasts and walks
- Specialst information sessions on funding and careers advice and guidance for those with specialist needs
- Regular quizzes - moved to virtua quizes during lockdown
- Structured craft sessions and specialist craft events
- Dog shows and animal visits
- Engaging workshops about the food and agricultural industries
- Design and making competitions
- Photography competitions
-Storybtelling events
- Specialist school visits
We are looking for additional funding to take this amazing and unique sensory cafe on the road by offering a mobile service to those customers who would struggle to get to us. We are also looking for funding to remain open to the public during the Covid-19 crisis.
We have had a lot of feedback through TikTok requesting this kind of project in towns across the country. Please feel free to have a look at some of our videos on TikTok: @colinsnestcafe.
Helping the community is at the heart of our ethos and we want to access as many people with sensory needs, anxiety and autism as possible.
The global pandemic has severely effected the groups of people we strive to support, so we want to take Colin’s Nest Cafe on the road offering a mobile sensory cafe to experience tonas many people as possible.
We are looking to convert a vehicle and install food and drink making faculties, as well as produce a sensory area that can be erected with it. Furthermore, we would like to ad value to the brand by designing and making our own sensory tables and sensory equipment for people with autism and associated conditions.
People with conditions that effect the senses, such as anxiety and autism struggle for a place to go to eat and drink where they feel safe, secure and soothed. Colin’s Nest offers this environment so EVERYONE can feel happy when they visit a cafe.
Colin’s Nest Cafe: ANXIETY. AUTISM. ALL.
