Day 26 - staying inside

On the advice of the authorities, there is no driving for exercise and surging england have urged people not to go.

so stayed in all day. The right thing to do.

I will make it up at a future date!

or fill a paddling pool...

Day 25 - last day (for the greater good)

Actually the best day yet, very short and isolated surf way to the right of the pack.

Warm, clean, nice waves - caught a few.

Day 24 - one outside trip for exercise

Troubled by the number of people out, but I was > 4m away from anyone else. I went far right of this group. Nice waves.

I think surfing will be stopped soon.

Day 23 - Seal of approval

Left it very late. High tide, sunshine (again) and quick swim out to the back of the Island...but met by a large harbour Seal. So some company at last.

Now in lockdown for last week of challenge, glad Boris is allowing me out for one daily bit of exercise.

Day 22 - wall to wall sunshine

Nicest day yet. Sunshine, high tide and light winds. No waves so once round the island. Photo before the tide was in!!

Day 21 - Flat cold

High tide, flat, cold easterlies but a beautiful sunset coming. Swam around the island. No one else in again.

picture from great western off the web cam. Had to rush off without taking today’s shot.

Day 20 - it’s getting lonely

On my own again in the crappy waves. Is it the weather or the self isolation? Rubbish waves and onshore wind.

Rob Love posted an update on 19th March 2020

Day 19 - More Mizzle

Gray, rainy, cold and windy. No fun here. No waves, Onshore winds (northerly) . So short swim. First day when absolutely no one else was in the water.

Day 18 - Grey Mizzle

Only place to hide for a few minutes away from the meltdown. Small clean waves. Will they police a beach curfew next?

Day 17 - self isolation out back

Managed to sneak in for some small clean waves. Kept 1m from others in the line up. A moment of calm in the Corvid -19 crisis.

Day 16 - home straight

2degrees this morning, but super sunny day. Caught a couple of minnows. Graeme, Emily, Max, Michelle and Anna all in the sea today. Might not be together much longer...surfing from home for a while?!

Day 14 - re-visited

Not sure where this one went? Small hangover - thanks Dene, Matt and Jim.

Sunny and small catchable waves and a little less wind made it bearable.

Day 15 - halfway’ish

Very spring-like and sunny, so quite pleasant. Small, sloppy waves with onshore winds. Apologies for the rude signs in the sand. Welcome to Newquay!

Day 13 - Friday

Small and clean, wind has dropped but surprisingly less fun than it should have been.

Day -12 - Chunky

Too big, too windy - 35mph. No fun. But good team bonding with Crowdfunder’s hard core, Emily and Anna. Max joined us too - he looked cold but pretended not to be, in front of the girls.

Day 11 - Like summer, but with waves.

Barreling waves on super low tide. Vey sunny. Got a few big drops and a few more pastings. About as good as the bay ever gets! No complaints. Just need to have more talent.

Rob Love posted an update on 10th March 2020

Day 10 - Bay-tastic

Rainy, grey and gloomy - but...as big as it can get in the bay without closing out (so as good as it gets - which for Cornwall is average. But hey ho, it's March. Can't complain. I missed the best bit of the day (actually doing some pesky work) and missed most of the good waves. It was too high, by the time I got in.

The photo was well after I got out.

Day 9 - Bigger sets

Bigger sets, but bad timings on tides - too high. Caught a few on the inside. Arms now hurting less!!

Day 8 - Zoo'ed in the bay

Looked like Summer, light offshore wind 2ft waves and packed with surfing farmers. Sneaked in and out in the sun, between the wind, rain and hail. On to week two...

Rob Love posted an update on 7th March 2020

Day 7 - one week complete!

Rewarded with 14 degrees, a break in the wind which went offshore and light. Waves 1-2ft but clean, got a few, slaloming through the hundreds of young farmers.

Rob Love posted an update on 7th March 2020

Day 6 - Windy

Windy, chunky, not much fun. Quick swim around the island. Sun was shining but pretty cold northerly.

Rob Love posted an update on 5th March 2020

Day 5 - St Pirans Day dip

No surfable waves. Winds onshore/northerly. So quick swim today. Thanks for Max for support and camera work.

Day 4 - Here comes the mizzle!

End of the sunshine. Rain and Cornish mizzle. Winds turned SE and offshore, small waves. On my own today but I heard there were plenty of Crowdfunder participants in swimsuits earlier in the day - shout out to Anna who joined in and Emily who lost the wetsuit today. What a hardy bunch.

Day 3

Sunny once again. I’m sure it won’t last!

Onshore wind, small messy waves.

I was ably abetted today by Crowdfunder’s Emily and Michelle - both surfing.and Bertie and Alex both no wetsuits and swimming only - brave!

Thanks for the continued support.

Day 2

So another sunny day, so I'm not suffering too much!

Massively supported today by my first pacemaker - Bertie - who came in with me [no wetsuit !!] after a 10km run! What a legend. Remember you can pledge/share or join me in the water. Everyone at Crowdfunder has promised to come in for at least one day in March! Except Graeme, who's been hoping for a return for the 'beast from the east' - what a git!

Thanks,

Rob.

Day 1

Day one complete, not bad day, sunshine between the showers. A nice bit of swell and lots of wind.

So, we all know that March is probably the coldest month in the sea.

So I'm going to swim from outside the CSpace/Crowdfunder office everyday in March for every £20 pledged, all in aid of Sport Relief.

And if you're hard enough, you'll join me!

Every penny pledged + the gift aid contribution goes to Sport Relief. 0% fees.

Anything you can contribute towards helping me achieve my target will be massively appreciated.

Thank you.

Rob.

ps. It won't be as nice as the photo.
