Aim: Help us raise £30,000 to support our delivery of vital services that tackle social marginalisation and food insecurity across Bristol.

Who we are

We’re a non-profit cookery school and community kitchen based in the heart of Easton.

We believe that everyone should have spaces in which they can share food together, learn and teach skills and create strong connections with others.

We see food as the most simple and easy way to support each other in building a stronger, healthier and more joyful society.

Who we help

We work specifically with people who are accessing support services in our city. But our kitchen is open to everyone. We work with a huge amount of organisations in Bristol, here are just a few of our partners;

  • Drug & Alcohol services; Bristol Drugs Project, Alcohol Recovery for All.
  • Refugees and asylum support: Bristol Hospitality Network, Bristol Refugee Rights, Borderlands, ABC, Impact
  • Young People; Young carers support, The Prince's Trust, 1625 IP.
  • Mental Health Services- Second Step Mental Health
  • And many other groups including One25, Migrateful, Reform and many, many others :)

How we help

We run cookery classes and events as a way to bring people together, challenge isolation, support connections and create a space where people feel dignified and valued. Obviously, we learn, teach and share cookery skills but so much of it is about building resilience through sharing spaces, skills and laughter. The time in the kitchen provides an opportunity for people to share and learn, feel at home, have space to connect.

We also run events, provide catering services and hire out our space in order to support us in our social outreach work.

How you can help

This year, we're asking people to support us and our ongoing projects by helping us raise £20,000. Your donations are hugely appreciated and really help us make a difference. You can also support us by:

  • Becoming a regular donor on our website.
  • Volunteering for us.
  • Hiring our kitchen or our dining room for an event or party. Just email [email protected]

Where the money will go

The money we raise will help to support our ongoing work throughout 2023. Below are a few examples of the sort of things involved in keeping the kitchen going that the money will go towards.

  • Tea & Coffee - £200 - Everyone who walks through the doors of the kitchen is given a warm welcome, and normally this involves putting the kettle on. £200 would keep us stocked up through the year.
  • New Aprons - £300 - The donated aprons we’ve collected over the years are really put to work, being used and washed on a daily basis, and to say it’s starting to show is an understatement!
  • Industrial Fridge - £1,000 - Our current domestic fridges were donated to us a long time ago and are showing signs of age. An industrial fridge would not only mean more room, but would also help us reduce our food waste.
  • A 6-Week Cookery Class - £1,200 - Our 6-week cookery programmes with up to 10 people cost around £1,200 to run. We run around 6 of these each week, partnering with Bristol based charities and support services.
  • Dishwasher - £4,000 - Sadly, our leaky, donated dishwasher finally stopped working this year. It’s done the kitchen proud but now needs to be replaced.
