The project is a two week residency comparing and contrasting living on the coast in Lancashire to living on the coast of Cornwall
The residency is two weeks, from the 17th- 30th June 2019. The initial idea for my work during the residency is to compare and contrast the seaside towns of Blackpool, Lancashire and Penryn, Cornwall.
I have worked in Blackpool for many years as a teacher, and upon leaving teaching to begin my life as a freelance artist I still find many of my projects happening in and around the Blackpool coast.
My work a lot of the time also has themes of loss and memory. To tie this into my work from the residency at the Fish Factory, my aim is to complete a mirror residency at a Blackpool based arts organisation; there I hope to be able to develop the work to include workshops for people in the area to help them think about loss they may have gone through and how memories can be an important part of dealing with loss
The donations from this crowdfunding project will go directly to making my residency at the Fish Factory happen. The money will go towards the cost of the studio and my own expenses for during the residency. Both myself and the Fish Factory Art Space are unfunded by anyone else so I really am counting on your support!
Thank you , Norma Foulds
