Aim: Coaching needs at Horwich Hockey Club! We wish to continue the success of last season to improve all players from different backgrounds.
Who are we?
Horwich Hockey Club is a small hockey club located in Bolton. The club has four teams, two men’s teams and two women’s teams. We provide the opportunity for people to be physically active and take part in a sport that they otherwise would not have access to through school. We are a small but growing club with a big emphasis on the social aspect of a team sport. The team of 9 volunteers organises all the games, training and social events for the clubs’ members. We aim to be inclusive and welcoming to all members and place importance on enjoying sport and fitness through positive team spirit. We have players of all ability levels, all ages (14-80+), and from diverse backgrounds. The club is a family-orientated club with social events organised for the whole family to attend such as Halloween/Fireworks evenings to family hockey days.
Why are we crowdfunding?
This project aims to improve the quality of training, remove the reliance on a single coach, and increase the potential to expand the club without compromising on the members' experience. The club has expanded to 4 teams with 60 members from a range of backgrounds.
By training more coaches we will motivate more players to attend training regularly, develop the skills of the members of the club, and increase their overall enjoyment of the game. This will be measured through attendance monitoring at training and ultimately league promotion for our teams. Over a few years, this investment will see the club grow. The coach training will improve the quality of training and this will be measured through testimonies from members of the club.
