To add solar panels to generate electricity and hot water for the new cricket pavilion.
Glaisdale Cricket Club are an inclusive family friendly cricket club. In recent years we have bucked the trend by growing our club significantly, particularly by focusing on young players and Women and Girls. We now have around 120 member, 50% of which are under 18 and 25% of which are female.
Thanks to generous support from our members, our community and many organisations, we have rebuilt our facilities over the last few years. Since 2023 we have built a new pavilion, the first one in our area to feature dedicated female changing rooms. We have installed new wheelchair accessible toilets, including baby changing facilities, upgraded our sewage system to a modern septic tank system and relocated our practice lanes. However one of our biggest limitations is the fact that we are "off grid" with no electric power connection. In a recent survey of members, provision of an electrical supply's highlighted as a main priority to enhance to use of the club, but also to encourage use of the facilities by other members of the community outside of the normal daylight hours. To progress as a club, we also recognise that to play at a higher level, the provision of showers will be expected.

When we planned the pavilion, our planning permission included the installation of solar panels. We believe that by installing panels to generate electricity and hot water we can provide the facilities our members desire, with zero cost and zero carbon emissions. The project is to install the solar panels and provide showers in each of the three changing rooms (home, away and female).

The club is already very active in the community, with many non-cricketing activities such as keep fit classes taking place at the ground. We have very close links with the village school, and for the last 2 years the school has run its annual sports day and fair at the ground. The proposed facility improvements will significantly increase the opportunities to run events across a wider range of days and hours of the day.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
