Help CNGA build community café / viewing area, to replenish lost funds due to Covid-19 and ensure the club is here for future generations.
The money raised from the Crowdfunder and Sport England match funding will go towards building and developing a community café area, located within the gymnastics facility. Our aim is to continue to improve the facilities we offer for both our gymnasts, parents / carers and the wider community. We want to give everyone a place to meet, socialise, eat, drink and relax, within a welcoming sporting environment.
We are so proud of the gymnastics services we currently deliver; from our performance gymnastics at Great Britain level, junior gymnasts, adult gymnastics; to our gymnastics for all programme and pre-school gymnastics, the money raised will help ensure the club is here for future generations of gymnasts and families in the region.
We believe we can offer the best gymnastics experience in Newcastle and the wider region for our diverse gymnastics base, parents / carers and local community. But to achieve our goals we need your support to help replenish losses due to covid-19.

The Academy is now home to 1200 children, attending gymnastics training from our Pre-school to Adults and everything in-between along with our performance level gymnasts all developing at their own pace through programmes, designed to suit all individual needs. Our programmes provide the prerequisites of leaning coordination, balance, special awareness, strength and flexibility.
One of City of Newcastle Gymnastics Academy main initiatives is our ‘Gymnastics for All’ programme, where we currently have over nine hundred participants, ranging from pre-school to adult/university gymnastics. CNGA has a strong relationship with both Newcastle & Northumbria Universities providing weekly sessions to students of all abilities from beginner to advanced working on balance, co-ordination, strength, flexibility and expression. We pride ourselves on providing an inclusive gymnastics environment for the wider community, in order to raise participation levels and improve physical, mental and social well-being of all individuals involved.

City of Newcastle has also worked with numerous local primary schools providing weekly sessions to students and teachers, both at CNGA and on-site school visits. The primary focus of the sessions aimed to increase gymnastics participation, love of the sport and the importance of staying physically active from a young age, with a secondary emphasis on raising the quality of local primary PE and inter school competitions.

Covid-19 has had a serious effect on our finances with revenue losses of £531,000. Due to lockdown restrictions and government guidelines CNGA has had a substantial loss of revenue and we have been existing on reserves. Reserves had been building up over the last few years to pay for continued improvements to our Academy and to sustain the club in the future.
Throughout the year, we host annual events including; Christmas displays, Regional and National competitions, which attract thousands of the local community to support the Academy. Due to Covid-19, we had to cancel all events, gymnastics for all, pre-school, adult gymnastics, university sessions, performance gymnastics sessions. Due to the cancelation of the above session and events, this resulted in revenue losses of 70%.
Although we obtained some emergency support packages and received some grants, we continued to operate on dwindling reserves. Due to our extensive financial losses, the building project for the café was put on hold due to lack of funds. We are hoping with your support, that the Crowdfunder will allow us to continue with this development plan with the funds you pledge, in order to supply a café and viewing area for our customers and wider community.

City of Newcastle Gymnastics Academy was established in 1980 from a vandalised Youth Club under the name Wallsend Gymnastics Club, we outgrew this venue and moved into a half tent, half corrugated dome building with a second name change to North of Tyne Gymnastics Association. Our members continued to grow along with our family based staff. Our dream then was to secure a purpose–build gymnastics centre where we could accommodate our large waiting lists of children wanting to become part of our amazing gymnastics facility.
In 2001 our dream of a state-of-the-art gymnastics centre was accomplished where we became City of Newcastle Gymnastics Academy. We are a non-profitable organisation very committed to providing a quality service provision and believe we are doing so within a gymnastic stand point.
CNGA is based within Benfield Sports Centre, Benfield High School, Newcastle Upon Tyne. It is one of the largest facilities of its type in the country, providing opportunities for people to participate in pre-school/recreational gymnastics for fun right through to international competition level. The Academy provides a varied programme for participants of all ages and abilities through a team of dedicated coaches, many of whom are young leaders and volunteers.
CNGA has an established tradition of providing high quality gymnastics coaching and facilities, with a commitment to the development of the sport in Newcastle and the North of England. Our aims are focused on giving children, young people and adults from all communities the opportunity to experience gymnastics at all levels of the continuum and to develop their movement skills to the highest potential.

This Crowdfund is part of Sport England’s "Active Together" match funding. If we reach 100% of our goal Sport England will match fund up to 50% of the money we raise to make our total even bigger!
This is an all or nothing fund bid, so if we don’t make it to our target amount, we won’t receive anything. Please give what you can to help us reach our goal!

We want you to feel part of our gymnastics community and to do that we have some amazing incentives for all our pledgees. CNGA wants to THANK YOU for taking the time to read our crowdfunder and thank you in advance for any pledges you make.
