Aim

In 2026 CMC is 60! On this foundation we must rebuild Pensarn Harbour for another 60 years of lives changed through adventure and faith.

What is the Christian Mountain Centre?

We believe that time spent in the great outdoors is essential for the rounded development of young people and adults alike.  We also believe that time away from home and the business and in some cases, the difficulties of daily life, allows people time and space to breath and consider life's bigger questions.  An opportunity to reset, to refresh and to consider the question of faith.  We believe that offering authentic, exciting, real world adventurous activities challenges and strengthens participants, giving them experiences to draw strength from when life gets tough.  We believe in offering these activities in a welcoming and inclusive residential environment allows time for reflection and discussion.  At the Christian Mountain Centre everything we do is underpinned by our Christian faith and where opportunities arise to discuss this we do so with gentleness and respect.

CMC is 60 years old!  We need your help to build on this foundation for the next 60 years!

We need to rebuild and reopen our Pensarn Harbour site!

This multi-million pound project has gained planning permission because of the financial supp1770378742_cmc_close_up_nw_aerial_view_ph_v2_edited_fb.jpgort of our friends  who raised approximately £180,000 to do so.  We will need to raise significant funds to move this essential project for us.

In addition to this whilst we continue to operate from our Bryn-y-Moel site - we need day to day financial support to serve our guests and provide the life changing opportunities we have offered for the last 60 years.  We are at a pivotal moment in time for the organisation - we can't go backward, rising sea levels and the climate emergency render our accommodation at Pensarn unusable, hence we must rebuild not refurbish and until we reopen Pensarn we can't move forward as our lower bed numbers at Bryn-y-Moel are unviable alone.

It sounds dire and on face value it is.  But, we believe that now is the time that, particularly our young people, need the opportunities we offer and our existing friends and supporters have recently raised hundreds of thousands of pounds to gain planning permission, to clear our mortgage and to support everyday running costs - for this we are eternally grateful.

What could you do to support us?

Firstly, remembering our needs in your prayers and your conversations would be amazing - spread the word, let people know who we are and what we need.  If you are inspired to do something different a few examples are detailed below.

  • Plan a sponsored sixty for CMC's 60th - 60 lengths of the pool, 60 Miles / Kilometres - walked, run, ridden, 60 Mountain Peaks, 60 Cupcakes baked and sold, 60 jumps / skips / hops on the spot, 60 minute silence - these can be done throughout 2026.
  • Join our sponsored walk on the Cadfan Way between 18th -24th April 2026 and raise sponsorship.  Contact Dennis Downey on [email protected] for details.
  • You could make a donation that is restricted to the building project to help us undertake engineering surveys or raise further funding.
  • Would you be able to introduce us to individuals who might be able to significantly support the building project financially.
  • Would you consider leaving a legacy in your will in favour of CMC.  Your gift would help ensure CMC continued to be able to share God's love with those who visit in the years to come.
  • If you would like to support our ongoing residential work - £6 would replace a1770381309_roman_steps.jpg karabiner - keeping a guest safe on a real rock climb, £60 would buy a pair of boots to allow someone their first real mountain top experience, £120 would purchase waterproof trousers, jacket and a warm fleece for blustery days in the mountains, £180 would cover water sports kit - to teach new skills and build confidence. £600 would cover the whole actual cost of a young person staying with us, who otherwise couldn't afford to come.
  • We are adamant that the value of the adventure is magnified through the residential experience and being away from home.  In the spirit of doing something practical for CMC's 60th could your donation cover 60 / 600 / 6000 litres of heating oil. We serve 200 breakfast and evening meals per week.  Maybe 60/600 litres of diesel to get guests to their adventure in our minibuses? 6 / 20 /60 duvets, pillows, pillow cases etc - all essentially to the warn, comfortable welcome we strive to offer.

To summarise our need -

We need your support on two fronts.

  • We have a really exciting building project to raise millions of pounds to complete.
  • We need ongoing financial support to continue our ever essential ministry of outdoor education set in a welcoming, inclusive Christian environment.

Any assistance you can offer no matter how large or small will be equally valued and appreciated - we can't go back and to survive we must go forward.  Thank you in advance.

Mark and the whole team at CMC.
