Aim

Secure the future of Clyde Built Radio by covering our running costs, upgrade the Barras studio, and develop our website.

Clyde Built Radio Needs Your Help!

For almost six years, Clyde Built Radio has been a labour of love, run by volunteers, powered by community, and dedicated to amplifying Glasgow’s creative voices. In that time, we’ve aired thousands of shows, connecting local talent to listeners across the world. But now, we need your help to keep the station alive. Costs are rising, the landscape is shifting, and without support, our airwaves could fall silent.

Our goal has always been simple: to provide an open, independent platform where Glasgow’s diverse voices can be heard, celebrated and connected. From first-time DJs to established artists, CBR has become a meeting point for creativity, collaboration and community.

Since day one, we’ve kept things running through events, collaborations, and a lot of hard work. We’ve hosted parties, curated music for bars and restaurants across the city, sold a bit of merch, and started a Patreon (which currently covers about two weeks rent). Every penny has gone straight back into the station.

In the early days, there was real excitement around what we were doing. Brands and partners were eager to get involved, and that support helped us grow. But things have changed. People go out less, the cost of living has risen, and funding for independent arts projects is harder to access without dedicated staff or grant-writing expertise. Our rent and bills keep climbing, and the kind of backing that once kept us afloat just isn’t there in the same way anymore.

We’ve reached a point where this model is no longer sustainable. We need to raise enough money to secure the station’s running costs for the year ahead. That stability would finally give us space to focus on building long-term sustainability and doing more of what we set out to do: supporting and connecting Glasgow’s creative community.

This campaign is about securing our future. With your help, and Creative Scotland matching every donation, we’ll:

  • Secure rent and streaming costs for the next year
This breathing room will allow us to plan properly for the future rather than operating month to month.
  • Improve our Barras studio
Our much-loved home needs some care: structural fixes, better accessibility, and technical upgrades that will greatly benefit DJs and listeners alike.

Having these essentials covered will also make it easier for us to apply for smaller grants and raise funds for community projects that have been on hold. We want to offer more structured training for volunteers, expand our workshops in community centres around Glasgow, run outreach projects in more remote parts of Scotland, and create opportunities for exchange with other independent stations. We’ve already begun some of this work, but without a stable base, it’s been impossible to build on it consistently.

If we’re lucky enough to reach our £20,000 goal, any extra funds will go towards covering the project oversight work and Crowdfunder fees.

Bringing Glasgow To The World.

CBR is based in the Barras, but its reach extends far beyond Glasgow. Our DJs have shared the city’s sound with listeners across continents, and it’s been incredible to see that creativity resonate around the world.

Along the way, we’ve hosted events across the city, facilitated radio exchanges with stations around the world, partnered with the University of Glasgow for lectures and workshops, and collaborated with institutions like Glasgow International, V&A Dundee, GFT, and Somerset House.

We’ve also worked with local community groups such as Unity Centre, Glasgow Autonomous Space, and Abbie Crew, and teamed up with festivals including Riverside Festival and We Out Here. Our work has been featured in The Guardian, Mixmag, Wire, DJ Mag, and Resident Advisor, with BBC 6 Music shining a spotlight on the Glasgow scene we’re proud to represent.

To keep that connection alive, we need a proper digital home where our community can connect directly, without depending so much on social media. If we raise enough funds, we plan on upgrading our website with detailed show pages, search tools, and a full archive of thousands of shows, preserving some of Glasgow’s musical heritage and making discovery and listening easier for everyone.

Can’t Afford To Keep Going, But Can’t Afford To Stop.

We’ve avoided big fundraisers until now, partly out of stubbornness, partly out of awkwardness, but this time CBR is at a crossroads. We can’t do this without you.

If CBR has ever meant something to you, if you’ve played a show, listened in, or discovered someone new,  now’s the time to chip in. With Creative Scotland matching every donation, whatever you give goes twice as far in keeping the station alive and independent.

Thank you for being part of this journey 💚
