Provide new fencing around part of the perimeter of the Clubhouse and 3 pitches to prevent vandalism and dog faeces to safeguard our players
Bangor Rugby Club was founded in 1880 and currently runs a 1st XV and 7 junior sides with a total of over 180 participants.
The club is a Casc registered company and is run by a Chairman, Secretary Treasurer and a committee. All are volunteers and elected as per the Club's constitution on an annual basis at the AGM.
The Club aims to create a welcoming, friendly, SAFE environment where children and families can enjoy all aspects of the club, from on field playing to the off field social aspect in a warm hospitable friendly Clubhouse.
The aim of the project is to provide new fencing around the clubhouse and its 3 pitches costing £10,000, so as to prevent vandalism and dog faeces being deposited on the pitches. Since Covid more and more members of the public have found the pitches a convenient place to walk their dogs but sadly many do not collect their dog faeces and this is a health hazard to all our players but especially the younger ones and the danger of dog faeces is well documented.
Toxocariasis is a rare infection caused by roundworm parasites. Humans can catch it from handling soil or sand contaminated with infected animal faeces. Roundworm parasites are most commonly found in cats, dogs and foxes, and usually affect young children.
In recent years individuals from the traveller community have gained access to the grounds and caused considerable damage. In addition there have been incidents of motor bikes riding on the pitches leaving large tracks that we have had to fill in to prevent injury to players.
We have erected signs but they are ignored and the ground being in such a rural area is impossible to police and is accessible 24 hours a day
Therefore it is essential to solve this problem and the only way is to erect fencing to prevent unlawful access to the clubhouse and pitches when not open.
This fencing will greatly assist us in our aims to provide a SAFE environment for our players and the wider community.
