Aim

Our clubhouse is in need of a facelift with aging tables and chairs needing replacing in the main hall, players lounge and kitchen area

Who are we?

We are a local rugby club in the small village of Ystrad Mynach and we pride ourselves on being at the heart of our local community.

The club was established in 1952 by a group of miners from the local colliery and it has gone from strength to strength ever since. Fast forward over 75 years and we are a thriving organization providing rugby for all age groups from under 4's right through to seniors, as well as walking rugby for the older generations.

As a club we are fully inclusive and provide a central hub for the community where everyone is welcome and thanks to the tireless work of an army of volunteers we are able to provide opportunities for sport week in week out.

We currently have over 250 local children in our mini and junior section, as well as a youth team and two senior teams. Many of our children and adults come from areas of social deprivation and we pride ourselves on providing opportunities and a safe and nurturing environment that teaches them both rugby and life skills, with the aim of making them well rounded individuals both on and off the field.

Why are we crowdfunding?

The aim of our crowdfunding campaign is to raise funds to support several much needed improvements in the clubhouse which is used not only for rugby related activities but by the whole community for regular events, parties and classes.

New tables and chairs are needed throughout the club as well as new flooring in the players lounge, both of which come with substantial costs.

The financial landscape is tough at the moment for all local clubs with rising energy prices, minimum wage increases and an uncertain economy all putting pressure on organizations to simply keep their heads above water.

That's why we are looking to crowdfunding to hopefully raise these much needed funds so we can keep our clubhouse up to the standard that our members and the local community deserve

How we’ll spend the money raised

The two key items of spend are:

- New tables and chairs for the main hall, players lounge and kitchen area

- New flooring in the players lounge and kitchen area

Community impact

Although we are a rugby club our facilities are used by the whole community for a range of different activities.

There are several groups & clubs that use the club to meet on a weekly basis including a local Welsh History Society, skittles teams etc

Parties, weddings, funerals and christenings within the local community are constantly held at our clubhouse and with our nominal hire fee it makes the venue accessible to the whole community.

We also provide a place for local football and rugby fans to watch live games on pay to view television networks that are becoming increasingly more expensive.
