The aim of the project is to support NDRFC with the clubhouse redevelopment.
Who are we?
North Dorset Rugby Club is a local rugby club based in South West England that has served the local community for 75 years. In that time it has helped to instil the values that rugby is famous for into a huge number of men and women, both on and off the field.
NDRFC currently runs three senior sides; this includes both men’s and women’s teams. The men’s 1st XV currently compete in the Regional 1 Central. A full junior section spanning through the age ranges of 5-18, including a strong colts side and three girls teams. Therefore, catering for boys and girls of all abilities. We currently have over 600 registered players with an age range of 3 to 65. There are over 1000 members of the community regularly interacting with the club.
We are very proud of the success of all of our teams and hope this continues for years to come. With the planned developments of the club, we really feel we can continue to showcase top quality rugby and welcome more people into the North Dorset family.
The Project
This year the club has plans to build a new state of the art club house. The current club house, built in the 1990s, is no longer fit for purpose and beyond economic repair to provide all of its members with suitable facilities. They are not currently running under RFU specification.
The new clubhouse will have 3 function suites, in house changing facilities, a gym and physiotherapy room. 8 changing rooms and balcony viewing area.
With the growing demand of new members to the club, we desperately need to be able to offer state of the art facilities that not only comply with RFU regulations but give members the opportunity to learn and grow within the club. We are also hoping that the new club house will appeal to the local community and schools that can benefit from the use of the facilities, as well as trying to be more eco-friendly through the redesign of the gas and electric, which is being supported by local businesses.
Why the need for crowdfunding?
We are in a position to build a new club, however due to the Covid 19 pandemic several of the clubs major fund raising activities were cancelled. Events such as bonfire night, Christmas parties, presentation evenings, visiting teams and rugby international fixtures were cancelled for almost two whole years. These events would have provided us with vital funds needed to furnish, decorate and equip the new clubhouse.
To make sure this project happens there is a need to raise additional funding. This funding will help the club be more accessible, provide better facilities for future generations and allow the club to grow and develop in different directions.
There are ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
