Aim

Raising funds to reimagine this beautiful female led stage play by renowned stage and screen writer Anna Jordan as a short film.

I'm Lou-Lou. I'm a theatre and filmmaker. I love to tell stories about people who find themselves in the sh!t, and have to clamber out of it.

It's something that all of us can relate to.

My next project, Closure, is no different. Written by the incredible Anna Jordan (Succession, One Day, K!lling Eve), Closure is tragic, darkly comic, moving short, which rocks with Anna's incisive ability for cutting through to the deepest, most common parts of human experience in every line.

It's a story that captures what it is to be a woman at a fork in the roads, the future we thought we would live, now disappeared. The impact of mental illness and bad decisions, sitting alongside the necessity of accountability and painfully facing up to where you find yourself and how you got there.

What you'll find in this crowdfunder:

  • Why donate
  • Be an Executive Producer
  • More about Closure

WHY DONATE?

Being a woman/enby in the film industry is still a radical act.

Stories about women in film are a lot more rare than you would think, and raising money for film if you're not a man is almost impossible.

Throughout my 20+ year career, I've always championed women and underserved communities in theatre and film, to redress the imbalance. (Also they're just really interesting and it's great to see oneself represented). Some data on that:

  • A study from 2024 has shown that the number of female leads in Hollywood movies is at a 10-year low - the average being only 30% of leads being played by women .
  • On top of that, last year, women accounted for 23% of directors, writers, producers, executive producers, editors and cinematographers working on the top 250 grossing films . Women comprised 21% of individuals in these roles on the top 100 grossing films, up 1 percentage point from 2024.

And this data is actually trending downwards and the impacts are becoming worse. So it's not so much of a stretch to say that your donation - large or small - will actively help change the industry!

Thank you for reading - if you're not able to donate, that's completely understandable. A share on your socials would be amazing!

ALWAYS FANCIED WORKING IN FILMS?

And not known where to start? If you've built a career eslewhere but previously dreamed of being a movie big shot, Executive Production is a really great way to get involved.

Executive Producers support a film with funding. In return they get all the kudos, have access to the creative network, invites to premiers, festivals and screenings, sitting on panel discussions and Q&A and are generally an essential part of getting the film made, without having to do any of the work!

If you're interested, please get in touch - we would love to include you on the Executive Production team.

Our project already has some Super Star Power, which you as Exec Producer can name drop at your whim:

  • Written by Anna Jordan - previous credits include HBO's Succession, Netflix's One Day, BBCs Killing Eve, The Globe's Mother Courage
  • Music composed by Cam Blackwood - producer for George Ezra, London Grammar, Florence & The Machine

ABOUT CLOSURE

What would you say if you could share the words you've been burning to tell someone?

We all have those moments, don’t we, where we imagine saying what we wish we could say to someone.

The rehearsed speeches in the shower. The phantom conversations in the kitchen. The rumination, the spirals, the ‘If only I’d thought of that before—'…

Words that will never be heard. Words that are only for us.

Closure explores what it’s like to finally have the chance to get those words off your chest. To speak your truth, to face up to your part, to move on.

Eve meets Webster for dinner. It’s been two years since they last saw each other.

There’s a lot of water under the bridge. A few bridges burned in fact, but a desperate need for some kind of reconciliation - for better or worse - some kind of closure… so that perhaps a new life can emerge.

Will Eve manage to persuade him, or will she finally let go?

Closure is story that happens to so many women: how to come back from the aftermath, once a rug has been pulled from under you. When you realise the trajectory of your life will be forever completely changed.

All because of one false move, one little argument, one reckless decision that shatters everything around you.

Closure examines loss and grief and the legacy of both as it ravages our sense of self, our psyche, destroying plans and our mental health. And how we must rebuild.
