Closed Shop Community Bid.

Aim

To buy stock and pay for a short term lease that will enable us to open The Closed Shop.

The Closed Shop is a popular real ale pub on Commonside, Sheffield.  For the past three years, we have been run (very successfully) by Reet Ale Pubs Ltd.  Unfortunately, at the end of March, Reet Ale Pubs ceased to be and our pub has been closed ever since.

At present, a prominent Sheffield brewery is negotiating the long-term lease for The Closed Shop.  That is great news.  We look forward to working alongside the new leaseholders to make our pub even better than it was.  Unfortunately, the negotiations could take months and - in the meantime - the people of Commonside, Walkley and Crookes are starved of a friendly, welcoming, unpretentious pub that has become a focal point for local people and interest groups.

Our plan is to open The Closed Shop on a short term lease, which means that we will get our pub back serving the local community.  This is an opportunity to help us get the pub open by donating some money towards the cause.
