Creating natural ponds where Scottish children learn about nature and local urban communities help tackle climate change.
Who are we, and what is our project about?
Froglife is the UK's leading amphibian and reptile conservation charity. For over 30 years, we've created wildlife habitats, educated communities, and protected native species across Britain.
Our Coalface to Wildspace Scotland project addresses Scotland's amphibian decline and children's disconnection from nature. Common toads have declined 68% in 30 years, while over 60% of children in our target areas have never seen amphibians in the wild.
This project fits Aviva's Climate Action criteria by creating wetland habitats that provide natural flood management, support biodiversity, and engage communities in climate adaptation. Children who participate in habitat creation develop environmental awareness that influences their families and communities.

Why we are crowdfunding
We're raising £5,000 to demonstrate community support for this environmental work. This funding will help us create wildlife habitats in urban areas whilst educating children about climate solutions through hands-on conservation.
Urban communities across Ayrshire, Lothians, and South Lanarkshire lack access to nature, while climate change threatens both wildlife and local communities. Our approach creates wetland habitats that manage flood risk whilst giving children their first experiences with wildlife conservation.
Each habitat becomes a learning space where children understand how wetlands help communities adapt to climate change. One Glasgow participant told us: "I never knew there were newts in Glasgow. Now we've got our own pond, and I can show my little brother."

How we'll spend the money raised
We will use donations for direct community engagement and habitat creation:
Community workshops and events (£3,250):
Educational materials and resources (£750):
Project development and coordination (£1,000):

How you can help
There are three simple ways to get involved and support our project:
1. Make a donation Every pledge gets us closer to our goal. Early support can help build momentum and inspire others to give too.
2. Spread the word Share our project with friends, family and your wider network. The more people we reach, the more likely we are to succeed.
3. Volunteer with us If you'd like to get involved in habitat creation or community education, we'd love to hear from you. Please get in touch through the 'Contact' section using the subject "I want to volunteer my time or expertise" on our project page.
This project creates lasting environmental benefits whilst building community understanding of climate adaptation through practical conservation work.
