Following calls from the local community, Pride in Tees Valley are on a mission to make Cleveland Pride 2025 happen in Redcar & Cleveland and we need your help!
With your support we can give Saltburn a fantastic free event, celebrating the Tees Valley’s LGBTQIA+ community with a programme of creative, accessible and family-friendly activities!
Join us in bringing Cleveland Pride back to Redcar & Cleveland this summer, where all are welcome to celebrate diversity, inclusion and the resilience of our LGBTQIA+ communities.
Not everyone fully embraced the idea of Cleveland Pride when we first started conversations and shared that the event was happening, but we believe with the rising hate crimes nationally and shocking stats of loneliness of LGBTQIA+ people in the region that it is important to encourage more understanding and make sure everyone feels seen, celebrated and included.
Here are some comments collected from Cleveland Pride 2024, showcasing the importance of the event in the area:
“Just want to say thank you for organising the event. I grew up in Guisborough and we didn't have much LGBTQ+ representation in town/school etc as it's such a rural area compared to the city I now live in. It's s really nice to see everyone supporting the event and an event like this even happening!”
“Please make sure Cleveland pride happen again in future! 😊“
“The thing I most enjoyed at Cleveland Pride 2024 was the chance for people to get together and celebrate love. We need more of this at the moment with the divisive actions taking place all over the UK. It was my partners first time wearing female gendered clothing out in public and this was a huge moment for them to try this at. Having this safe space helped them feel confident enough to do it. Thank you! ”
"I’m so pleased an event like this finally exists in Cleveland for all the LGBTQ+ individuals living in or hailing from the area. Representation is so important, as is being able to be authentically yourself in your hometown. I felt comfortable to wear my flag round my shoulders once I saw other people doing it - it was great to see so many people visibly embracing their identity and lovely that it was such a family-friendly event that my family could join in with. Saltburn was a fantastic location and it was lovely that there was so much on the programme. I love live music and all the performers on the main stage were fantastic and brought the party!"
