Following calls from the local community, Pride in Tees Valley are on a mission to make a Community Pride event happen in Redcar & Cleveland this year and we need your help!
With your support we can give Saltburn a fantastic free, pilot event, celebrating the Tees Valley’s LGBTQIA+ community with a programme of creative, accessible and family-friendly activities (to be announced soon!)
Join us in bringing a new Pride event to Redcar & Cleveland this summer, where all are welcome to celebrate diversity, inclusion and the resilience of our LGBTQIA+ communities.
Not everyone fully embraced the idea of Cleveland Pride when we first started conversations and shared that the event was happening online, but we believe with the rising hate crimes nationally and shocking stats of loneliness of LGBTQIA+ people in the region that it is important to encourage more understanding and make sure everyone feels seen, celebrated and included.
With a wave of positive responses to our online survey and the valued input of our Community Committee, we want to make an inclusive Cleveland Pride event happen which all can be proud of!
Here local community members share what Pride, and having Pride in Saltburn means to them…
“Pride to me is a chance to say that we are still here, we're still trying to achieve basic human rights for everyone, and the fight isn't over. It's a chance to celebrate the diversity and inclusion in humankind.”
“My child is LGBT and it’s important that they get to attend somewhere they can be themselves without judgement around peers and people older than them. We normally travel to attend Pride so it would be great to have something on our doorstep and will hopefully help local businesses and allow us to make local connections. “
“I would LOVE for my daughter to be able to attend a local Pride event with us year on year, to showcase and celebrate Pride and for her to be proud of where she came from.”
