We are dreaming of the end of the pandemic. We strongly believe that once the lockdo...
Due to the lockdown, we are moving our classes online, launching at-home clay kits for those craving a creative and Covid-safe outlet.
SkandiHus is a small ceramics business with two studios in Hackney (in Clapton and De Beauvoir). We have nine employees on payroll, along with 11 more freelancers. We teach structured pottery classes to novice and experienced potters, and we provide a workspace for potters to practice their skills. TimeOut London called us "the best pottery classes in London."

The Covid-19 pandemic forced us to shut down our studios in spring of 2020 and again in the autumn of 2020. Our studios remain closed. The lockdowns have had a big impact on our finances. They have also prevented our students from accessing a vital creative outlet, proven to improve mental health.

In order to keep our business alive, and to give our students a much-needed creative escape, we would like to provide a way for people to get creative at home, in a Covid-safe manner. We want to post students "clay kits", containing tools, glazes and clay; allowing them to join online classes. Some classes will be live on Zoom, others will be accessible via recorded instruction videos.

We would use financial assistance to:
These make-at-home clay kits could be the key to the survival of our business, ensuring that we can reopen our studio doors to students once the lockdowns are complete.
