The Bexhill Senior Citizens’ Club is a registered charity. The building was bequeathed to the club in 1961 by an association known as The Friends of the Elderly and was registered as a charity in 1962. The purpose of the club was to specifically provide the elderly residents of Bexhill and its surrounding areas, with a venue where they could meet and make friends and participate in activities that would bring about both enjoyment and interaction. Its goal was and still is to this day, to alleviate loneliness and isolation and encourage our elderly community to remain active both physically and mentally for as long as they feel able to do so by offering a safe warm venue.
Our club is housed in an old Victorian hotel over many floors and we have a problem with damp in the south and west facing walls . A complete survey of the building in 2021 designated the wall damp as priority A. We have to date had interim work carried out (i.e. render removal and dampproof painting). We now need to attend to these walls one again and are looking to raise £10 thousand towards the £50 thousand cost of cladding the south and west walls.
