Who are we?

We are Clackmannan Development Trust, a membership-led organisation working to make our town and surrounding villages a better place to live, work and visit.

Funded by grants, donations and fund-raising activities, we work with local partner organisations to identify and address areas of need in the community. We encourage sustainable travel and an active lifestyle through our Active Travel programme. The Butterfly Garden is a community space maintained by dedicated volunteers and used for leisure and education by our local schools.

The Caring and Connected Partnership brings together local support organisations to help ensure that that local health, wellbeing and social care needs are provided for.

Community impact

We provide easy, friendly access to important outreach services, including Citizen's Advice, Health and Social Care, Home Energy advisors and support with substance misuse at our centrally located premises, the Bruce Lounge.

Our Active Travel hub has delivered Bikeability to training to local schoolchildren since 2019. We also offer free cycle repair and servicing through Scotland's Cycle Repair scheme, and provide opportunities for skills development via free bike maintenance training and safe cycling lessons for all ages. Cycling is an affordable and sustainable method of travel and leisure activity, and we are committed to supporting as many people as possible to get active and make the most of our local cycle networks.

We have a dedicated team of volunteers who organise and run social events throughout the year, bringing the community together with affordable activities for families and older residents.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are crowdfunding to cover the costs of opening the Warm Space, offering a safe and welcoming environment for the most vulnerable members of our community. Providing free hot drinks and snacks, and a warm, comfortable place to come during the day where they can enjoy an activity and the company of others will help us to signpost more people towards vital sources of information and advice to help cope with the cost of living crisis.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money raised will go towards covering the additional costs of heating the building, providing nutritious hot drinks and snacks, and providing creative, engaging activities for visitors to the Warm Space.
