If extra money is raised it will all go towards the upkeep and wellbeing of the farm and the animals.
City Farm at Bucknall Park once welcomed around 90,000 visitors a year, but was shut down by Stoke-on-Trent City Council in 2011.
Now council leaders have granted a 20-year lease for the farm to a new community trust, City Farm (Stoke-on-Trent), which is allowing it to be brought back into use. The charity is planning to launch a wide range of activities at City Farm, including school visits, adult art classes, bees wax candle-making, woodworking and 'animal mindfulness'.
Animals at the farm will initially include chickens, goats and bees, but we also hope to bring in pigs, ponies and sheep as well. The attraction could also offer a 'farm experience', a sensory garden, gardening, arts and crafts and a 'mini farmer for the day' activity for youngsters.
Such activities wILL 'contribute to the social and environmental wellbeing of the area'.
