See lives changed and a community transformed!
According to the stats, Churchill Gardens in Boscombe is one of the most deprived areas in the England. Many people here face significant struggles with their physical, social and mental health, finances, housing and unemployment.
But a precious group of people have eyes that see beyond the stats, hearts that love, hands that are skilled in serving great coffee, and a calling to build community that gives life rather than saps it out of people!
Over the last 9 years, Joy Cafe's been bringing JOY and building COMMUNITY in this part of the world. That's everything from genuine smiles and meaningful conversations, to their 'Pay it Forward' and 'Pay What You Like' schemes, to wellbeing promoting workshops, and family fun days.
We love this and are partnering with them to see greater transformation – less loneliness, stronger families, improved mental and physical health, and more people eating well, in recovery from addiction, managing their finances effectively, and volunteering or employed!
For this we need a dedicated Community Development Worker!
Coastline Community Trust's Community Development Worker will be based at Joy Cafe and will:
- Empower people to overcome adversity and take steps to reach their goals through facilitating courses focusing on addiction, finances, mental health and wellbeing.
- Tackle loneliness by hosting social events and interest groups including pioneering ‘The Social Coffee Table’.
- Strengthen families by providing free kids activities during the holidays, family fun days, and parenting advice.
- Support people practically and emotionally in times of crisis by listening and signposting to other agencies.
- Take the Joy Bike into the local area to give out free drinks and chat to people on the streets.
- Help people gain employment through increasing their skills, coaching and connecting them with volunteer and work opportunities.
Help us raise funds to facilitate this role and see further transformation of a beautiful but broken neighbourhood!

Huge thanks from
