We want to give disadvantaged adults, families and kids in N17 a free Christmas 2022 lunch and distribute food vouchers to families in need
Who are we ?
Seven years ago the Antwerp Arms in Tottenham was saved from developers to become North London’s first community pub. Affectionately known as the Annie, the community pub venture was started by the collective efforts of a group of local people. The Annie is now owned by the local community with 440 shareholders. It has become a friendly and welcoming community hub. Local people from our diverse communities gather to meet, hold events and socialise with quality drinks and good food.
What do we do ?
We run a Community Lunch club and have prepared and given away hot, freshly prepared free meals every Tuesday since 2017. During the Covid lockdowns we expanded this Project into a free food kitchen for vulnerable and isolated people in our local communities. Every Tuesday and Thursday we delivered over 10,000 free meals and food parcels to excluded, shielding and disadvantaged people in Tottenham, Haringey and Enfield. You can read more about our community projects.
We also cook and serve up free Christmas lunches for vulnerable and disadvantaged people. In the past we've also given out Christmas food hampers to local people who wouldn't otherwise get anything. This year we plan to give food vouchers rather than hampers to support families over the festive period.
Our good work is recognised
In 2022 the Antwerp Arms was presented with a "Haringey Heroes" award by the mayor.
Volunteer Led
We have achieved all this with our wonderful team of over 40 volunteers who get Health & Safety, cookery, food preparation and hospitality training. We work with other charities like Fare Share and the Felix Project. We have also received support and funding from Peoples Health Trust, Haringey Giving and National Lottery Community Fund.

What will we spend the money on ?
In 2022 the October half term we gave food vouchers to families to kids who were on free school meals. This was made possible by generous donations from visiting NFL fans along with funds from our own resources. Given the current economic crisis, we want to be able to help more families in need during the festive period.
