Aim

To provide Christmas Hampers to those in need across Bridport and Beaminster.

The Christmas Joy Campaign

Over the past five years, our Christmas Joy Campaign has raised more than £50,000 to support local families in Bridport and Beaminster during the Christmas period. These funds have provided practical help during what have been some of the hardest years in recent memory; from the isolation of the pandemic, to the continuing strain of the cost of living crisis.

Most importantly, the funds have allowed families with young children to have the Christmas they might otherwise have had to forego.

Working with St Mary’s Church, we have made and delivered almost 800 Christmas Hampers to households struggling to make ends meet, as well as providing hundreds of vouchers so families could buy fresh food at Christmas time, from local suppliers.

The feedback we receive each year is humbling. Many describe the help as essential; something that allows them to get through the season with a sense of normality and dignity.

This Year’s Appeal

The need has not gone away. For some, things are harder now than ever.

This year we aim to raise £8,000 to provide 170 Christmas Hampers for families across Bridport and Beaminster. These are not emergency parcels — our partners at Cupboard Love and Beaminster Food Bank continue that crucial work throughout the year — but rather a way of ensuring that families who are struggling can enjoy some of the magic of Christmas.

Each hamper will contain enough food for a proper Christmas meal: a locally sourced turkey, fresh vegetables, cheese, biscuits, chutney, pudding, and chocolates. It is a small gesture, but one that can lift some of the pressure at a time that should be spent together, not in worry.

Making Each Contribution Count

We estimate that this year we shall need to raise £8,000.00 to provide hampers for all those who require them. With your continued support, we are confident that we can meet that target.

As previously, we shall also be looking to Crowdfunder’s match funding programme, with a view to securing critical match-funding from businesses, both local and national.

With such support we hope to see each pound donated by you multiplied, making your generosity go even further than it otherwise would.

This campaign is about children, and making sure that those who care for them do not have to make that heart-breaking decision to either pay a bill, or provide something special at Christmas time.
