Help us light up Oban this Christmas

Every Christmas, the streets of Oban come alive with festive lights, bringing smiles to thousands of local people and visitors alike. From families wrapping up for the Christmas Light Switch-On to children meeting Santa, our decorations help create memories that last a lifetime.

Oban Festive Lights is run entirely by volunteers. We are a registered Scottish charity and every display, every light and every event is made possible through grants, fundraising and the generosity of our community.

This year, we're asking for your help.

Earlier this year we asked the people of Oban what they wanted to see this Christmas.

You told us you'd love to see coloured lights return to the town's Christmas tree, and we've received a quote of £403.20 for new Cherrylight garlands to make that happen.

You also told us you'd love a beautiful Christmas arch where families and visitors can stop, take photos and create special memories. We've sourced a stunning illuminated arch costing £3,923.52.

Unfortunately, some of our existing decorations also need replacing. The wall-hanging lights on Combie Street have reached the end of their life and new displays will cost £1,512.96.

Together, these improvements total £5,839.68.

Why does is matter, its simple, Christmas in Oban is about much more than lights.

It's about children seeing the town sparkle for the first time each year. It's about families making memories together.

It's about supporting our local businesses by encouraging people to spend time in the town centre during the festive season.
