Aim

Raising funds for a pressure washer to keep the platform and steps at Battery Rocks safe for swimmers and walkers, so chemicals aren't used

Every day, 365 days a year, swimmers and visitors head to the iconic Battery Rocks in Penzance. The tip of the 'Holy Headland' that gives Penzance its name. It's been a community swimming spot for centuries, with steps and platforms for access and sunning.

In the winter months algae and seaweed grow on the paths and steps, making them very slippy and dangerous. The community of swimmers wash and brush to keep the area safe and once in a while the local fire service lends a hand. Other times, chemicals have been used to clear them.

As our first Christmas Crowdfunder for the town - we are raising money to buy a pressure washer to keep the steps clear and slip-free So that chemicals don't have to be used and the community can better keep on top of the issue to prevent accidents. The washer will use sea water to blast the natural slidey stuff back into the ocean.

The pressure washer will be kept at Sustainable PZ HQ, and will be available for other community groups to use throughout the year, to prevent chemicals being used.
