Help us provide life-changing support for disadvantaged children, young people and adults. This is the best present anyone can unwrap.

Impact

Dyslexia shouldn't hold anyone back, but the cost of support often does.

Can you help us support dyslexic learners this Christmas and help more people from disadvantaged backgrounds with a Crowdfunded gift?

Why are we crowdfunding?

With no government funding available, families are struggling to afford vital assessments and tutoring. Typical assessment costs could see families spending money they don't have to get their loved ones the help they need.

Since COVID-19 hit and the cost-of-living crisis began, more people than ever are turning to us for help. We're determined not to let anyone slip through the cracks, but we can't do it alone.

That's where you come in. Your donation will help us provide life-changing support to more children, young people and adults from disadvantaged backgrounds. We offer specialist assessments, one-on-one tutoring, and access to courses that can make all the difference.

Imagine the impact: improved literacy, boosted confidence and a brighter future for those who need it most. Every pound you give helps to break down barriers and unlock potential.

Together, we can ensure that dyslexia doesn't define anyone's path in life. Will you join us in making a difference today?

  • 100% better understand their strengths and weaknesses
  • 95% can access further support
  • 93% report improved confidence
  • 94% see improved literacy skills
  • 93% experience less frustration and anxiety

Our Parent's and Beneficiaries Perspective:

“The dyslexia assessment led to a dyslexia diagnosis and this was transformative for my child's self-esteem. He now gets the appropriate help at school and understands that his literacy difficulties are not his fault and that he is not a failure but an intelligent boy who has a differently wired brain. I cannot thank you enough for this, I truly believe it has changed the path of his future”.

“My daughter couldn’t understand why she couldn’t keep up with the workload in her class at school and referred to herself as stupid. The diagnosis has made her understand why certain things are more difficult and we can work with school to navigate around these.”

“If it wasn’t for the funding then my son wouldn’t have had the assessment and wouldn’t be getting the right help at school. He is now a free reader at school, where he wouldn’t read at all before, and has much more confidence in his abilities. I couldn’t be more grateful for the funding.”

“We have struggled for 9 years to get help for ‘A’, the report we received means he now gets the help he needs. ‘A’ is doing very well at school, he still has problems but accepts his issues and feels more confident in dealing with them. He uses a laptop in the lessons he is able to and has produced some amazing work. We can't thank you enough for your help.”

"I wanted to take a moment to express my deep gratitude for the extremely generous bursary that your charity provided, which enabled me to undergo my Dyslexia assessment. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the life-changing work your charity does. It means more than words can express."

Who are we?

The Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity removes barriers to learning and life for children, young people and adults with dyslexia and other related specific learning difficulties.

We do this by providing expert, personal and life-changing support to over 1,500 people a year. Wherever possible we deliver our services subsidised to people with dyslexia who could not otherwise afford them, and plan to increase the number we help year on year.

We also support the wider networks around people with dyslexia, including parents of children with dyslexia, teachers, and employers.

How we’ll spend the money raised

We will allocate the crowdfunding money specifically for families who need urgent help and assistance but who are unable to afford it. We will ensure the children and adults who need bursary funding can have consultations, assessments or tuition without having to wait.

Your contribution will help unlock potential, boost confidence and create brighter futures for those struggling with dyslexia. Together, we can ensure that learning differences don't hold anyone back.
