Christmas at Unity Grill

Christmas at Unity Grill will look very different this year. Due to current restrictions we are unable to open our doors to our community on Christmas Day. This is incredibly upsetting as this would mark our 4th free Christmas event. We feel this is such an important opportunity to connect not only with those struggling financially but also those who would otherwise be on their own. 

This year the struggle is even greater for families impacted greatly due to the effects of Covid-19. We have decided this year to help lessen the burden on families that we will provide Christmas Day dinner hampers. These will provide everything for a really special day. Ensuring families don't miss out on marking the day with a special meal. These will be delivered in the run up to Christmas by our good friends at Ayr Rugby Club who stepped up to help us during lockdown. Families will be identified by our partner organisations, Barnardos, Women's Aid, Newton primary and Dalmilling primary, ensuring we are reaching families in need. 

We would normally have all the residents from Blue Triangle's homeless shelter with us but this year we will be taking dinner with gifts and all the trimmings to them to ensure they don't miss out. 

We will also be delivering Christmas dinner on the day to those we would normally support and others identified by those working in the community. A hot meal will be delivered on the day by volunteers who will pull a cracker and have a blether on the doorstep (social distancing) to ensure a little human contact and kindness has been shared on an otherwise very lonely day for some. 

We have tried our best to come up with a plan that ensures we reach out to those who need some extra love on such a special day.
