Welcome to our 2025 Christmas Appeal! Funds raised from this will go directly towards our work with destitute asylum seekers.
Help the London Catholic Worker Fundraise!
The London Catholic Worker is a community based in Harringay set up in the spirit of the Catholic Worker movement of Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin. Our main work is running Giuseppe Conlon House, a house of hospitality for destitute asylum seekers without recourse to public funds (known to us as our 'guests'). Since 2010 we have provided a home for our guests while they are going through the often long and difficult asylum process, offering them a respite from sleeping rough, and a community to be a part of. We believe that building community is the most powerful witness that we can provide. In a world that is increasingly hostile towards refugees and asylum seekers, Giuseppe Conlon House is an opportunity for our volunteers and guests to share a life together, forging a community that is fuelled by a shared desire for love, justice and peace.
“If we are afraid, we must pray not to be afraid, to be fools for Christ. Love includes justice.” (Dorothy Day)
Why we need your help →
Giuseppe Conlon House is run solely by volunteers and we mostly rely on donations to get by. We are blessed that we have supporters from our local community, but looking ahead to renovations, increasing the safety of the house, and heating and cooling costs (alongside our regular daily needs) we are looking further afield for financial support.
What your money will go towards →
Money that you donate will be used towards our guests’ expenses, such as food, travel and phone vouchers. The money will also go towards the costs of our energy bills (specifically heating our very old buildings) and upgrades to house systems such as our fire alarm.
Why should you support us? →
As a community, we believe that the call of the Gospel is to live alongside the most marginalised in solidarity. At Giuseppe Conlon House, we are not just providing our guests with somewhere to sleep, we are providing them with community. We are building them up by connecting them to other support services and are working alongside them to ensure that they have all of the resources they need in their search for safety and security. By supporting our fundraiser, you will be helping us continue this community and provide a place of respite for asylum seekers for years to come.
