To provide Dereham debt centre clients with an energy efficient way to cook - slow cookers - and supermarket vouchers in time for Christmas.
At the Dereham Debt centre - with Dereham Baptist Church working in partnership with Christians Against Poverty - we provide free face to face debt counselling and help clients to create and maintain a sustainable forward budget. This helps folk in the community to deal with existing accumulated debt, with a path to becoming debt free. The current cost of living crisis means that we expect our service to be even more vital for the community we serve into the future.
Coming into the Christmas period we want to bless our existing clients with a Christmas 'Hamper' consisting of a slow cooker - to provide energy efficient nutritious meals - and supermarket food vouchers to help them to be able to afford food over the Christmas period.
Existing clients are folk in the Dereham area who are in the process of becoming debt free and have started their journey with the Dereham Debt Centre in 2022. If we raise additional funds beyond our £2,500 target then we will look at including clients from previous years and or increasing the supermarket food voucher element of the distribution.
