Aim: To fund the production of Choose Cards Christmas Jumpers, promoting the benefits of sending Christmas Cards and supporting UK manufacturing.
Christmas Cards and Christmas Jumpers - a perfect match
Please check out the new Tote for a Tenner reward in the Updates below!
If I were to ask you to name things connected to Christmas, I’m sure cards and jumpers would be pretty high on your list. Now you can embrace both at once with a Choose Cards Christmas Jumper, sustainably made in the UK by a Manchester based social enterprise using recycled yarn made from leftover waste.
It’s a difficult time for independent retailers, with card retailers facing particularly unique challenges like the ever increasing cost of postage, making it harder for customers to send the cards that they buy. I’m part of a group of independent card retailers that every year encourages people to buy and post their Christmas cards early, allowing them to take advantage of more affordable second class postage. The Choose Cards Christmas jumpers will be a great way to support this campaign.
By buying your Christmas cards from your local independent shop, you’re not just supporting one business, you’re supporting a UK wide network of hundreds of talented card publishers, designers, artists, illustrators, printers and makers.
So whether you’re a card retailer, a card maker, or just a fan of sending Christmas Cards, bag yourself a Choose Cards Christmas jumper, help spread the message and support both UK independent retail and UK manufacturing at the same time.
Following the success of my Choose Cards t-shirts, which have been very popular in the greeting card industry, I want to celebrate the most important time of the year for cards with a Christmas jumper. The evidence is that plenty of people are still buying and sending Christmas cards, so why not encourage them to do so just by wearing a rather fetching festive jumper?
Here's how you can help
Pre-order your Choose Cards Christmas jumper by opting for one of the rewards and you’ll be getting it at a great value early bird price. Full price will be at least £42 plus delivery once this crowdfunder is over, so be quick, the sooner you pre-order, the cheaper it is! There's a size guide at the bottom of this page.
If you don't fancy pre-ordering a jumper, but still want to support this project, then any amount that you can pledge to help get them into production is greatly appreciated and will give you a warm fuzzy feeling, knowing that you're supporting both independent retail and sustainable UK manufacturing.
Why a Crowdfunder?
The target amount for this crowdfunding campaign will cover the cost of the minimum order of jumpers. As a small greeting card and stationery shop, I'm used to much lower stock costs and minimums so I simply don’t have the funds to cover such a high cost upfront. I am keen to spread the Choose Cards message and support sustainable UK manufacturing at the same time, so this crowdfunder is the ideal way to do this.
Christmas Jumpers aren’t very sustainable though are they?
Christmas cards are renowned for their sustainability, with paper and card being the most sustainable materials on the planet, but usually Christmas jumpers are quite the opposite, with many being made in poor conditions on the other side of the world and shipped all the way over here at great cost to the planet. The Choose Cards Christmas Jumpers will be made in the UK by a Manchester based social enterprise using recycled yarn made from leftover waste.
What happens if the target isn't reached?
This is an all or nothing crowdfunder, so if the target isn't reached then all of the money donated or spent on rewards will be refunded, the Choose Cards Christmas jumpers won't get made, it's quite likely that Christmas will be ruined and I'll probably cry. So please help to spread the word so that we can make sure these fun festive jumpers get made!
Thank you for your support,
Please note: the final jumper design may differ slightly from any illustration shown.
