A short comedy // drama set in Manchester - made in conjunction with Creative England - iShorts3
Every Friday night, regular as clockwork the Railton sisters have their Chippy Tea. Maintaining the tradition and routine instilled in them by their parents. The three sisters gather together, get the food from the same shop at the end of their street and put the world to rights. Tonight is the first time tradition is broken when Michelle, the middle sister decides to bring her new boyfriend along to dinner. Some aren’t happy with a stranger in the mix, to others, he might not be a stranger at all.
Chippy Tea is subtle character comedy in the tradition of great British comedies and tragic drama, that reflect on family and relationships when uncontrollable outside forces come into play.
Thats the fancy way of saying - "its a comedy about folk in Manchester"

well, production costs money. In fact it cost a ridiculously large amount of money - and even with all my awesome friends who work in the film industry who will be working and helping out for nothing - its still really expensive. But don't just take my word for it, treat yourself and watch this little clip of Charlie Brooker explaining how much telly costs to make back in about 2005 - HERE
now, not to get all soppy on you here but the other reason we need your help is simply that, it's my dream to make films and I've never had the opportunity to make a film that I care about so much and be able to do it properly with real quality actors and real quality equipment on a scale like this. You're basically also investing in future productions, because with your help - if we make this film great, we have a much better shot at making some more.

Hiya - my name is Will Herbert (www.willthedirector.com) and this is a little bit about me ....
My career in the creative industry started as a camera trainee around 8 years ago but the seeds of story telling and my love of cinema were planted much earlier. I would relentlessly watch movies from a very young age, my friends and I would remake them in the garden with video cameras and I went on to work and act in the theatre through my teens. At university I studied both Greek and Roman drama and comedy then my love of anime and eastern cinema lead me to move to Japan to experience life there. On my return I managed to secure a job on the Channel 4 show ‘Shameless’ where I spent 2 years absorbing the process and falling in love with the set. I soon moved into directing commercials and this is where I have been operating for the last few years.
I began making short films during this time, both serious and comedic in tone and they have gone on to be screened at 80 Film Festivals world wide, shown on TV in the UK, Australia and the US and have received multiple awards.
You can see a few clips from some of my shorts here -
