Over 4 days Chipperfield will host a number of events to celebrate HRH Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee
Our strapline for this fundraising effort is "Accessible for all" - We are looking to significantly reduce any financial barrier for 4 days of fantastic events& activities for the local community of Chipperfield and surrounding areas.
From the 2nd June through to and including the 5th June, the planned activities are aiming to cater for all and includes Theatre, Music, Comedy and Physical!
Why are we doing this?
Reducing social isolation and loneliness
Our project has targeted the vulnerable and created an opportunity for providing discounted tickets for the whole village and especially for those isolated and alone. If you take time to look at our website: chipperfieldevents.com you will notice that the high end quality of events being staged is not reflected in ticket prices.
Improving health and well-being of adults in Hertfordshire
Our four day event has involved local businesses, local sports organisations, including a local dance club, the cricket club, football clubs, our tennis club and our local theatre group. This is truly a village event and we hope to contribute any excess funds to our local sports clubs.
Creating volunteer and opportunities for local people
We will have over the four days in excess of 50 volunteers of all ages from within our community -going of their time and energy to make this an unforgettable village event. Many of these people are volunteering for the first time.
Supporting and enabling vulnerable groups
You will be aware that Chipperfield does not have the highest crime rate in Hertfordshire. However we are seeking to create and keep this a safe space where the whole village and people from surrounding areas can come and enjoy the celebrations. This will be backed up by 24/7 security and paramedics on site.
Reducing or delaying demand for Hertfordshire County Council services in the community
We believe that by creating an upbeat and celebratory event over four days, including a Service of Thanksgiving for the Queen, Flower Festival, History Experience and Vintage Cinema will remove much of the burden on the council and by uplifting and improving the mental health of villagers. Chipperfield has now taken in at least three Ukrainian families, (who are involved in our activities) and whose children are attending our local primary school. We have arranged for a special gazebo highlighting the plight of Ukrainian refugees and pointing people in the direction of being able to donate or help Ukrainians living in the village. If we do have surplus funds we intend to donate some to their cause.
So what are we able to offer!
Family activities start from around 11am in the morning each day and finish and culminate with 4 amazing events in the evening in a 250 seater marquee on the Chipperfield common.
We are very keen to reward our supporters with tickets to the following events;
Friday - Comedy Night (£15)
Saturday - Big Band Matinee (£!5)
Saturday - Jazz evening (£15)
We have also invited local community businesses to sell their products and services to further support the local community.
