To empower, build the self-confidence and self-esteem of children, tweens and teens.

by Lou @ Spirit and Soul Reiki in South Croydon, Greater London, United Kingdom

Hi! My name's Louise (Lou to those who know me well). I'm a qualified primary school teacher, who left the profession back in 2021 to pursue a career in Reiki healing. Little did I know that I'd end up seeing an increasing number of children, tweens and teens in my private clinic. All of my younger clients are battling with mental health conditions, or have a diagnosis of ADHD, autism, tourettes and more. With these clients, I use a combination of coaching/teaching and Reiki healing to support them.

My work over the past year especially has made me realise there is very little support out there for our young people. Many of my young clients are being prescribed medications for anxiety, or paying privately for talking therapy but not actually being taught strategies to help them manage their panic disorders or anxiety. This academic year I'm going to be working with a local primary school to run a private paid wellbeing after-school club to support children in years 5 & 6. If this goes well, I'd like to expand and work with other local primaries and secondaries.  Additionally, I'd like to offer a monthly half a day wellbeing workshop in a space that would be open to the wider young persons community.

The workshops would teach meditation, breathing techniques, nervous system regulation, energy work, crystals, affirmations, and mindfulness activities such as colouring, bracelet making and so much more. I already have a lot of interest in running these which is amazing. It's something I wish I could offer for free, but I'm not in a position to do that. Having taken that leap of faith back in 2021, finances have been very tight at home. I've worked so incredibly hard to get to where I am today, with a growing number of private clients, and hope that one day I'll be running these classes and workshops for free.

With the funds I'm hoping to raise, I'm looking to purchase equipment such as bean bags, yoga mats, blankets, collapsible tables and chairs, A1 flip art easel and paper, printer, paper, colouring materials, journals, and bracelet making materials (not an extensive list). Obviously, some of these resources will need replenishing frequently.

I firmly believe by creating a safe and nurturing space, a listening ear, and a lot of practical strategies to support mental health, these children will leave feeling lighter, more confident and empowered.

Thank you for reading, and donating. Please know that your money will be making a difference to our young people.

Love Louise 🙏🏻💜💫
