Who are we?
We are a children’s clothing bank (Registered Charity Number SC050347) based in Dunfermline.
Set up three years ago as a response to the financial impact of Covid 19, we sadly find that, in 2023, our services are now needed more than ever as the cost-of-living crisis hits families hard.
This year (Aug 22 to July 23), we have had an 81% increase in requests for clothing parcels in comparison with the previous year. That’s 740 children from 370 families who received a pack from us in the past 12 months. Almost all requests are for a week’s worth of clothing, often including footwear and school uniform. In total, we have helped 1500 children so far.
In addition to donations of top-quality clothing from the local community, at CCBD we rely on cash donations to allow us to supplement our pre-loved clothes with brand new underwear and pyjamas for each and every clothes parcel we produce.
We also have a system where we can provide children who need new shoes with a voucher which will allow the family the dignity of taking their child to pick the shoes they like and most importantly ensure they fit properly. We also provide a similar voucher system for older teenage children to supplement a smaller clothing parcel.
Finally, financial donations received can allow us to purchase specific clothing requests to enable children to take part in afterschool activities along with their peers.
