Kidscan are dedicated to finding safer, gentler and more targeted treatments for childhood cancer enabling children to survive and thrive.
About Kidscan
At Kidscan we aim to create a world where every child can survive cancer and go on to live long healthy lives. We use your donations to fund research dedicated to childhood cancer because that’s how we will get there.
In the UK 20% of children diagnosed with cancer will not survive because treatment options are limited. Of those who do survive, 95% will develop life-altering disabilities that can include; hearing loss, infertility, major organ or bone problems, and even heart failure. This happens because the treatments used to save their lives also cause lasting damage to children's growing bodies. Known as late-effects, these problems can appear long after treatment has finished, are progressive and can even reduce life expectancy.
Kidscan's vision is to create a world where every single child diagnosed with cancer can both survive and thrive. That means receiving the right treatments designed for their cancer so they can live the long and healthy lives they deserve without worrying about developing late effects.
KidsCan Connect
Alongside research, KidsCan Connect exists to make children and families’ experience more enjoyable during and after treatment
KidsCan Delivers:
Ward Visits – delivering educational, wellbeing and entertainment sessions and activities for children and their carers on hospital wards
Community Events – hosting free events for families at every stage of their cancer journey to reduce isolation and build support networks.
We work with NHS staff and families with lived experience to create and deliver bespoke programmes with improving children and their families experiences at their core.
