We are raising money to transform our Child Bereavement Hub to allow us to support more bereaved parents and their families.
Who are we?
The Ava Marie Foundation was launched in 2019 and became a registered charity soon after. The charity was launched as a legacy to our daughter Ava Marie who died at 11 days old with a neuro tube defect called Anencephaly. We are located in the North of England but cover the entire UK and NI
What do we do?
We provide free of charge Memory boxes and support to those who have lost a child through neonatal death, miscarriage, stillbirth and medical termination. We also provide support to those who are pregnant with or who have a child with a life limiting condition. All our memory boxes are given out free of charge and contain all the items to make memories including inkless paper and wipes, casting, Teddy Bears and Books. We also provide candles and creams, using these to remember smells in years to come.
What are we hoping to achieve?
Following on from the current services we provide, we found that there was a gap to provide support, memories and care of the deceased all under one roof. We are looking at creating the Child Bereavement Hub where we will have interconnecting rooms allowing the child and parents to create memories with a 24/7 wrap around service. The hub will also be the centre point to arrange group sessions for bereaved families, alleviate the mental health of families and allow them to support one another in a safe environment.
We understand the impact on climate change and pledge that we will use only materials that are eco friendly and have little footprint on the planet. We will use LED Lighting, harvesting of rainwater and continue to use sustainable materials throughout.
