Film Club provides a safe and inclusive social environment where young adults can enjoy film entertainment, and grow in confidence
FILM CLUB AT CHICHESTER CINEMA.
We're raising funds to support Chichester Cinema's Film Club – a welcoming space where young adults aged 15-25 can connect, share their love of film, and build lasting friendships. Each month, we screen iconic classics, enjoy pizza together, and dive into brilliant film chat before the lights go down.
Why Film Club matters
The pandemic hit young people hard. For many in this age group, three crucial years were shaped by isolation and anxiety – and the effects are still being felt. Today's young adults are streaming at home more than ever, often alone, and cinema trips can feel out of reach.
But cinema is more than entertainment – it's escapism, education, art, and conversation all rolled into one. Since launching Film Club, we've watched friendships blossom and confidence grow, particularly among young people navigating social anxiety or who are neurodivergent.
Our vision
We want to expand this vibrant young cinema community and develop a youth programmers' group where members can choose films, learn hands-on skills in marketing, programming, and projection, and discover their creative potential. These are real-world skills they'll carry into future careers.
How your support helps
We've kept ticket prices accessible at just £3.50 to ensure Film Club is open to everyone. Your funding will help us break even on screenings and develop more ideas for this film-loving community.
A BIT ABOUT US.
Our not-for-profit independent cinema has been an enduring presence within Chichester for over 40 years. We are a wonderful provider of independent world cinema, but the cinema is also a platform for our charitable work.
OUR CHARITABLE AIMS:
*Improving well-being and health and building stronger local community links by supporting vulnerable people such as the elderly, disabled and those unable to access mainstream cinemas through our community support and study programmes. We do this by working with local charities who support adults with learning difficulties with day-care and supported living, and for children with additional needs and disabilities. Also, we work with a Women's Centre, and a local hotel supporting newly arrived asylum-seeking families.
*Supporting young people in education, through a curriculum outreach and education programme
*Supporting and providing social entertainment for young adults in an inclusive and safe environment through a monthly Film Club screening.
* We are a community hub and for many of our elderly patrons, we are a lifeline, especially those who live alone, are isolated due to illness or disability and suffer from a social disconnect within our community.
OUR MISSION
To programme and deliver the widest range of film and performance events from around the world in a welcoming and inclusive way, bringing people together, encouraging debate, educating, and bridging gaps between communities, and enabling the community to see and understand the world through different eyes. In doing so, we broaden the appeal and appreciation of independent cinema which is central to cultural life in Chichester and beyond.
