Chepstow Tennis Club - New Clubhouse

Aim

To ensure our new clubhouse provides a smart and welcoming space with seating, a kitchen, toilets and changing rooms, and an outdoor deck.

Who are we?

Chepstow Tennis Club provides a welcoming place for tennis players of all ability, young and old. The club celebrates its centenary in 2029, and although we have been around for a long time we have grown considerably over the past few years, benefiting from the close relationships we have developed with schools and the local community.  

Why are we crowdfunding?

This autumn the club is investing in a new clubhouse, replacing the existing cabin with a larger modern building. The purpose of this Crowdfunder is provide the club with the funds to finish and fit out the new clubhouse with everything we need to ensure we have a comfortable and functional space we can all be proud of and enjoy being in and around.  

How we’ll spend the money raised

The funds we raise will used to provide furniture, soft seating, a small kitchen for refreshments (including appliances such as a fridge, microwave and coffee machine), fitting out the changing rooms, electric heating, accessible toilet facilities and an outdoor decking area overlooking the courts. 

Your donations will go towards buying the required items to fit out the clubhouse, such as the internal flooring (£1500), electric showers, sinks, taps and toilets (£1300), Benches and fittings for the changing rooms (£1,000), kitchen units, worktop, and appliances (£4,000), electrical items such as water heaters, radiators, extraction fans, switches and lights (£1500), tables, chairs and sofas (£2000) and the outside patio/decking area (£1800). The majority of the installation work will be done by volunteers.

Progress

We are making really good progress. A group of club members built a temporary store and took down the old tennis cabin in September, and the ground works contractor has started on site. The ground has already been cleared and levelled and the retaining walls to support the foundations are well underway. The aim is to complete preparatory work, including the ducts to connect to the utilities, during October. The new building is scheduled to arrive on site from the manufacturers in early November - we hope to be in by Christmas!

Community impact

The new clubhouse will enhance the experience for our members, visitors and parents, and allow us to host inclusive and community focused events in all weathers. It is a vital step toward making our club a vibrant and accessible hub for tennis and social activity in the Chepstow area. We have engaged actively with the local community to shape the vision, ensuring the new clubhouse meets both the sporting and wider social needs. As part of the planning we consulted with club members, local families and community stakeholders to explore how this new space can serve broader needs alongside tennis, such as hosting warm hubs to complement others in Chepstow. 

The clubhouse will provide a relaxed and supporting space for parents and carers to connect while their children play or take part in tennis activities, and encourage families to engage more actively with the club.
