Synopsis:
Checkmate follows Detective Chief Inspector Victor Valencia as he investigates a series of gruesome murders in the city. The story unfolds with Valencia's morning routine interrupted by a call from his superintendent, informing him of a new case. As Valencia and his new partner, DC Bell, delve into the crime scenes, they uncover a disturbing pattern: each victim is found with a chess piece and a cryptic clue. Despite their efforts, the killer continues to taunt them.
However, the investigation takes a dark turn when Valencia discovers evidence suggesting that he himself is being framed as the notorious serial killer. As Valencia races against time to clear his name and capture the true culprit, he finds himself trapped in a deadly game of cat and mouse, with the true mastermind lurking closer than he ever imagined.
