Aim

To launch a small range of products designed to address women's health concerns and start conversations around women's health.

I have been working in the community based side of the fitness industry for 15 years. I've ran classes, events, worked with companies who provide branded classes such as Zumba Fitness and FitSteps and also delivered fitness education to instructors.

I am very clear that one aspect of my business must always have a social objective. I want others to benefit from the work I do

After working with a client who specialises in the well-being of women, I decided that I wanted to create a product that not only served a purpose for a common struggle, but that also sparks a conversation and raises awareness of women's health

and NORKS was born!!!

NORKS - Supporting Women's Health

A series of products created by women, for women, for the ongoing support of women's health.

Starting with breast health and the common issue that women face when exercising, we decided that our starting point would be combining these two issues and creating a great quality sports bra. One that would make the wearer feel excited to exercise, which would remove the barriers which come around breast health.

It was very important to me that the products were designed and created by women, that the supply chain supported small British businesses and that I supported local where possible.

Each sports bra is triple layered with 4 way premium stretch fabric which allows for support yet flexibility and doesn't feel rigid. Each cup has a top loading interior pocket to allow for prosthesis, for breast enhancers, and for breastfeeding Mums who may need to insert nipple pads at a moments notice

Since putting the idea out on to social channels, the support for the business and concept has been overwhelming, with women giving their free time and skills to provide service to help get the product ready to launch, and not forgetting our 7 beautiful models who all have their own journey around female health who gave up their time for the campaign photos and to share their health stories

I now have 2 business partners who have joined through their shared values. Amy Fettis, who is my product designer and owns successful business Aim Athleisure, and Katie Bulmer Cooke who comes from a strong business background and currently runs Powah, a thriving talent management agency

We are now ready to go with 3 sports bra designs, a quirky campaign t-shirt and an impact to make! We are looking to raise money through crowd funding to bring a marketing company in to the mix and get our message out loud, clear and as far as possible in the most effective way. We are also looking to buy materials for the first wave of bras to ensure supply is met, and costs are as competitive as possible

A percentage of each item sold will be put in to a pot which will be used to allow women to Thrive. This is likely to change each year and can be anything from a NORKS LIVE event for women to attend, to a small bursary allowing women to start their own project or business

Thank you for reading the story of NORKS. We look forward to supporting YOU!
