Aim: Raising funds in memory of my late husband Stuart “Charlie” Charlesworth who died of COVID-19 in April 2020. He was aged just 45.

Stuart “Charlie” Charlesworth had a passion for life. He was one of life’s good guys.

Charlie sadly contracted COVID-19 at the start of the pandemic, the day before the UK was placed in lockdown and was ill at home for a week. On 30 March 2020, his condition deteriorated, and I had to make a 999 call. He was subsequently taken to Medway Maritime Hospital where the wonderful NHS did a fantastic job of looking after him in their Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for three weeks before he tragically lost his life on 19 April 2020. He was just 45 and our daughter lost her father at the incredibly young age of 10.

You can read more about our story on my blog “Life is a rollercoaster” and since he died, I have tried to ensure that he will never just be a statistic of the pandemic. That his legacy will live on. Fundraising is just one of the ways that we do this.

GREETINGS CARDS - £10 for a pack of five

1715110351_img_2547.jpeg

The money raised from the sale of these cards will be split between:

  • The Big Cat Sanctuary.
  • The Intensive Care Unit at Medway Hospital.
  • Widowed and Young (WAY)

Each charity will receive a minimum donation of £2.50 from the sale of every pack.

Charlie took photos that feature on these cards at The Big Cat Sanctuary. He first visited for a photography day which was given to him as a gift for his 40th birthday. He absolutely loved it, supporting them whenever possible at their Open Days and was a big fan of the environmental work carried out there. It was his knowledge of the sanctuary which also led him to visit Paradise Wildlife Park (now Hertfordshire Zoo) with his family and photos taken there also feature on the cards.

Widowed and Young (WAY) is a charity which Charlie had never heard of during his lifetime. But this charity is one that has been a lifeline for his widow Emma since his death in 2020, leading to new friendships and support for her and their daughter Rebekah.
