Our Community Amateur Cricket Club is raising funds to replace our pre-war changing rooms to make them fit for use by all.
Malmesbury Cricket Club is a community based sports Club with teams and sessions for girls and boys from ages 5 to 18. Our women's team has been running since 2023 and we have two adult teams playing in the Wiltshire Cricket League.
The Worthy's ground is overlooked by the 12th Century Abbey and as well as hosting sport provides an open space for the community.

Although we are blessed with a beautiful location our buildings and facilities are based on some some pre-war railway huts. The changing rooms, in particular, are not fit for modern purposes. The building is not water tight in winter or insulated, has shared showers and rudimentary toilet facilities.
Updating our facilities will enable us to be more inclusive, particularly for women and girls teams and also help us to meet safeguarding requirements when youth players take part in adult cricket. Additionally we would be able to host other community, sports groups or representative games with confidence that our facilities are fit for purpose.
Now...

The money will be used to demolish the current building, which has an asbestos roof, requiring specialist survey and disposal. The replacement will be the same dimensions as we are re-using the existing concrete standing. Construction will be insulated wooden panels (SIPs) with an insulated floor and roof. Think of a garden room but slightly larger. The building will be in keeping with the surrounding rural area being clad in waney edged larch, sourced locally.
Future...

The interior will contain individual shower areas and toilets, two large communal changing areas and a separate smaller changing area for mixed groups or individuals.

Creating welcoming environments will help attract more members of the Malmesbury Community to use our facilities. The Club is working with Malmesbury Town Council towards the aim of extending use of the ground outside of the summer months usually reserved for cricket.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a donation. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success! We aim to complete this round of funding by the end of August.
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get. Follow our Social Media pages
3. Come and meet us on our Friday evening junior training nights. All summer from 6pm.
4. Local Business - show your support by sponsoring our Club with an advertising board at our ground.
5. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
