Change your Story – Change for Life
Changing Life is raising money to provide trauma informed support to women on low income and/or unemployed.
It is estimated 50-70% of individuals will experience a traumatic event at some point in their life. Traumatic experiences such as abuse, domestic abuse, sexual violence, mental health, bullying, neurodiversity and disadvantage, often manifest physically and emotionally, affecting the individuals ability to lead a normal life. Trauma has a negative impact on individuals; increasing risk of physical health problems, poor mental health, substances misuse, risky behaviours and experiencing further traumatic experiences, especially when related to abuse. Traumatic events can cause lasting impacts on emotional wellbeing such as negative self-talk, self-blame, negative emotions including anger, fear, guilt and shame. This has knock on effects on other aspects of life, holding them back from leading a fulfilled life and negatively impacting relationships, careers, family, and overall wellbeing.
Angelika has been supporting unemployed women referred from DWP for support for a number of years, and is now looking to expand her offer.
The solution:
Changing life trauma informed support enables women to equip themselves with the skills to make positive changes both in their lives and for life. Changing the mindset by unlearning self-limiting patterns and gradually replacing them with positive thoughts, habits and actions. This allows them to feel empowered and free to be themselves from within and to live an authentic life free from beliefs and values which have been put upon them.
To make changes in life we must adopt a new mindset.
Acceptance + Belief + Choice = Change
A – Acceptance
Most people struggle at times to deal with what life has thrown at them, leaving them feeling stuck, out of control and trapped.
As a transformational coach, I’ve developed my ABC Change for Life programs to help people release the fears held within so they can change their future story.
By accepting the past, people can begin to move forward with positivity, refocus their energies and finally be free to be themselves.
Exploring current barriers to employment through the lens of acceptance and acknowledgement, we will discover ways to overcome those aspects of their life which are not serving them.
Another strength we will improve upon is assertiveness, which will enable people to express their needs and feelings in a healthy and positive manner, gaining self-worth and building confidence from within.
Participants will develop the tools to make changes and enhance their life through realistic goal setting.
B – Belief
Achieving balance helps people to maintain a certain quality of life. When making essential decisions and changes in life, things can feel a bit unbalanced for a while.
Building skills to create that balance through nurturing themselves, knowing what their priorities are and knowing how to maintain the right attitude throughout adversity will help people to realise their true potential.
Supporting their learning from the Acceptance workshop, people will realign their sense of balance and belief in themselves by reaffirming those attitudes, transforming limiting beliefs and creating positive changes that will start to have a transformative effect through making brave and bold choices.
C - Choice
Life is made up of choices and action changes things!
As a transformational coach, I’ve developed my ABC Change for Life programs to help people release the fears held within so they can change their future story.
Using the skills learned in the acceptance and belief workshops, people will now start to realise that they have a choice.
They will feel empowered to make these choices and take steps towards their future life. Participants of the course report they find the content valuable, they can apply what they learnt to their own lives, and 88% said they would recommend the course to a friend.
Following the Workshops, introducing a new concept to the clients, it is advisable to book in follow up one to one mentoring sessions to take place over the course of 3 months or more. This will help the clients to utilise what they have learnt in the workshops and help them further develop the right mindset, self-esteem, and confidence.
These sessions are person centered to the client, building upon their individual experiences and circumstances.
Through the one-to-one sessions the individual will implement their learning and delve deeper into their own personal experiences and belief system to identify their limiting beliefs, helping them take steps to access relevant training and employment.
