In December this year I am going to Molyvos (on the coast)in Lesvos to join other volunteers and help with the huge numbers of refugees arriving every. (3000 or more) who are cold, wet, hungry and often traumatised.
Once landed on the beach their next task is to officially register as a refugee.
Sometimes there are special buses to take them to the registration camp in Moria 60kms away. Sometimes not. Many people walk. Until they are registered they are considered illegal and as such can not use taxis or be helped by anyone to get there. It is a desperate situation.
This week there has been a ferry strike meaning that thousands of people (est.6000) have been waiting at the port in Lesvos with little food and shelter.
Any money you can spare will be spent in Lesbos to buy some of the most urgently needed items at the time. Baby food, blankets, tents... the priorities change constantly but there is always more need than donations. Please help, the Winter is coming...
