Cefn Cribwr FC are raising funds for necessary improvement work to our home ground after promotion to Welsh football's 3rd Tier.
We're an amateur association football club based in the village of Cefn Cribwr, South Wales. Founded in 1976, we currently field three men's teams and welcome senior players of all ages, backgrounds & ability levels.
In recent years we've enjoyed exponential growth on the field. From competing in our local "Bridgend & District League" as recently as 2014, we now look ahead to our first season in the Football Association of Wales's "Ardal Leagues" – Tier 3 of the Welsh football pyramid, after winning promotion in May 2022. Some achievement for a village of only around 1,500 people!
Since 1976, and despite our continued success, we're still proud to call ourselves a truly "amateur" club. That is to say that, not only do we refuse to pay players, but our players actually pay weekly subs from their own pockets.
To meet the necessary criteria for promotion to Tier 3, we've agreed to temporarily play our 'home' games 20 miles away, at Cambrian & Clydach Vale BGC, in the Rhondda Valley. This comes at great financial cost to the club, but more importantly to our supporters in the local community who will be left unable to watch us play unless they complete an hour-long round trip.
We are eternally grateful to Cambrian & Clydach Vale for allowing us to share their pitch, but our dream is to bring Cae Gof Playing Fields, our true home, up to an acceptable standard to allow us to play in front of a Cefn Cribwr crowd again.
Any donation, no matter how small, will help us towards reaching our aim of bringing Welsh League football to the village of Cefn Cribwr for the first time in its history.
We also recognise that times are hard for everyone at the moment. Even if you can't afford to support this cause financially, helping us by spreading the word on social media this would be just as greatly appreciated!
