Cecil's Horse Sanctuary

Where to begin?  

As you are now aware, Cecil’s Horse Sanctuary is a small horse and pony charity in Hertfordshire, offering a loving permanent home to horses and ponies who are old, abandoned, neglected, abused or unwanted (horses and ponies who had nowhere else to go and, in most cases, would have been euthanized). 

Many of our residents come to us with physical and/or mental health problems – some requiring special diets or ongoing medical treatment. Our ethos is for all the ponies to have a happy life where they enjoy just being ponies. They live together in herds and spend the day with their friends eating, sleeping, drinking and playing. They are fed, watered, cared for and loved. Many of the ponies have paired up and formed close bonds with another pony in the herd.

In order to feed, house and care for our equines, the sanctuary relies entirely on donations, events, pony grooming and leading sessions and the hard work of the founder and volunteers. 

Looking after equines also does not come cheap and over & above their feed, farrier, vet, hay and straw bills etc there are other requirements that we need to fullfill to ensure they are happy, healthy and content.  

We receive no government funding – our ability to rescue animals and offer a secure and safe life for them, is dependent on our fundraising. 

We have therefore set up our first Crowdfunder in the hope we can achieve this initial goal.

We also run various other fundraises and schemes, including sponsoring a pony, corporate sponsorships and Guardian Angel's.  Cecil's Guardian Angels donate monthly.  We NEED more Guardian Angels as this provides us with the security of knowing we can afford to feed them, provide health checks, feet trims etc. It is difficult for us to keep asking for donations, however we simply cannot do what we do without you, our supporters.  However small your donations are they still MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE.  So if you would like to help and would like to be able to call yourself a Guardian Angel to ponies that would otherwise be put to sleep or live sad, neglected or abused lives......sign up to monthly donations now. 

100% of any money received by the Sanctuary goes directly towards the ponies in one form or another. There are NO PAID STAFF, NO OFFICE RENTS, NO SUBSCRIPTIONS etc to pay for, just the immediate and direct requirements of our ponies.
